In 2000 I sold out of my marketing company in London to pursue a career in Art. I lived cheaply in India and Andalusia where I taught myself the rudiments of oil painting
In 2008 following a successful exhibition in London’s Cork Street I gained London Gallery representation and moved to France where I transformed an old barn in my garden into a dream studio. Soon after this I was unfortunately diagnosed with cancer and had to return to the UK for treatment and major surgery. By the grace of God I am both alive today and living in North Norfolk.
My heightened awareness of my own mortality and increased appreciation of creation is what drives my work now. Noticing things that I perhaps didn’t notice before and seeing something that I want others to also see – be that in still life, landscape or floral. I subscribe to the belief that composition is key to success in making a successful painting and my execution, which is not formulaic, varies from lose and painterly to a tighter depiction depending on how I think best to render my ideas on the subject.
