My work is representational with a strong use of colour, light and movement. These elements form my main inspiration. When painting I use oil paint, I draw using pastel and charcoal.
Primarily a portrait artist I love to portray the transient essence of my subjects, engaging the viewer but leaving unanswered questions. Another aspect of my figurative practice is dynamic life drawing – capturing the body in movement.
Living in such a beautiful part of the country I am compelled to record the changes of light from one season to the next. My studies at Wells-Next-the-Sea seek to depict the drama of our coastline; the way the sea reflects the sky and claws at the land as the tide races in.
