Seagulls & abstract
8 February 2021

Joy Cole is part of the Cromer Art Trail and a North Norfolk Studios member. Her studio will be open in this year’s NNS Open 2021. Joy has used lockdown profitably by moving between the conventional and the abstract in her art. Here she explains how it’s worked:

‘I Painted the seagull using a limited acrylic pallet on canvas, a conventional subject. With the paint left over I painted in a more abstract style on watercolour paper. I love to reach the point where you have no idea where you are going with an abstract. You are free to do what you like, then suddenly a path opens up and off you go…. nothing ventured…..’

You can see more of Joy’s work on this site or at her studio later in the year.
